Youth Outreach Coordinator

Description
The purpose of the Youth Outreach Coordinator position is to provide research-based educational programming to K-12 youth in Boone County utilizing delivery modes of afterschool programming, workshops, day camps, school enrichment and other partnerships. Programming will align with the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Development focus areas of Healthy Living, STEM, Leadership and Civic Engagement, and Communication and the Arts. The Youth Outreach Coordinator is a .50 FTE position. Hours may vary based on programming needs.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement youth programming based on county needs with direction from program coordinator, youth program specialist and Boone County extension council
  • Implement programs in accordance with state and federal guidelines and polices and share with volunteers and community partners
  • Build community collaborations with other youth-focused organizations in the county
  • Manage project budgets within Youth Outreach area
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers for youth outreach programming
  • Secure outside funding sources as needed, including grants and sponsorships
  • Manage local data collection in line with ISU Extension and Outreach K-12 Youth Development requirements
  • Administer evaluations and share impacts with County Extension Council and partners
  • Assure compliance with risk management policies
  • Work closely with 4-H coordinator to recruit youth participating in programming to the Boone County 4-H program
  • Develop program marketing and outreach materials in line with current ISU Extension and Outreach brand standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years’ experience with 4-H or other youth organization
  • Experience coordinating programs, events or volunteers
  • Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Microsoft Office, Video Conferencing, Social Media, Organizational and Problem Solving Skills
  • Team Player and People Oriented
  • Ability to Work Occasional Evenings and Weekends
  • Ability to Pass a Criminal Background Screening
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
